Here are some of our most popular posts from 2017. Its a great reminder at how social media is a really effective tool to show you guys what we do and how we do it. Im using it right now to share this message! The opportunities are endless and it plays a role in the success of BearWolf for which I am grateful.
That been said, going into 2018 I believe we all need to use social media responsibly, particularly in a fitness context. In this case its hard to clarify what 'responsible' means and I think everyone is still trying to figure it out. I certainly think that in the past I/we haven't always been accurate with the message we aim to share. It's something I think about a lot and seek to improve.
Moving forward, there are a few things we consider.
It has never been easier to display our lives for all to see. Which makes what we DONT post, just as important as what we DO post. Your life and your training will benefit by you not prioritising how you show it to others. Your self worth is determined by focus and discipline, not likes or shares.
Through social media, the pageantry of physique competitions has bled its way into everyday life and its had a negative impact. People seem to have forgotten that there is more value in a persons spirit than their image. Looking great comes easier to some than others and can be misleading in representing a persons knowledge and expertise. When it comes to the effort we put in and our application of knowledge everyone is near enough on a level playing field.
I don't write this because I think every social media post has to be honest or important. But I think more people could benefit by realising that every social media post is not honest or important.
A new year is a great opportunity to take a step back and think about how to be better. I think this is a good place to start.
